Major News Headlines for Today

1. Trump "Trying to Pass 'GENIUS bill'"
U.S. President Donald Trump said in an official video released on Jun. 12 ahead of his attendance at the Coinbase Crypto Summit in New York City that he will implement a number of cryptocurrency-related policies, including the passage of the 'GENIUS bill' to Congress. President Trump said that the cryptocurrency-related policies he realized after taking office in January have not yet been completed and that he is currently working with the U.S. Congress on passing the GENIUS bill.

2. Ripple-SEC Asks Court to Approve $50M Settlement
Ripple and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission(SEC) submitted an agreement to the U.S. court on Jun. 12 to request a lawsuit agreement between the two sides with Ripple's $50 million fine. Earlier in August last year, the U.S. court sentenced Ripple to a $125 million fine, and in May, the two sides submitted an agreement to lower the fine to $50 million. The court rejected the agreement once between the two sides.

3. Shopify Launches USDC Payment Service
Shopify, an e-commerce payment service provider, announced on Jun. 12 that it will support Circle's USDC payment through cooperation with Coinbase.

4. Solana Outstanding Agreement Reaches 2-Year High
Solana(SOL) futures market open interest reached $7.4 billion on Jun. 12, reaching a two-year high.

5. PayPal Adds Stella Blockchain To Its Own Stable Coin Distribution Network
PayPal announced in an official statement on Jun. 12 that it will add Stella blockchain to the distribution network of its own stablecoin PayPal USD(PYUSD). With the addition of Stella blockchain, PayPal USD has the first external blockchain expansion case other than Ethereum.

6. Brazil to Tax Crypto Investments at 17.5% Collectively
Brazil has announced that it will end tax exemption for small investors in cryptocurrency and impose a 17.5% tax on all cryptocurrency investments. The Brazilian government announced provisional measure No. 1303 on Jun. 12, saying it will abolish the benefits of exempting taxes on cryptocurrencies under 35,000 real.
