1. Bitcoin Reaches $106,000 on Spot Market Buying
Bitcoin(BTC) surpassed $106,000 on May. 19 due to a surge in buying in the spot market. Glassnode, an on-chain analysis platform, pointed out that the daily Bitcoin buying in Coinbase reached $45 million on May. 18 and claimed that the spot market demand for Bitcoin is far above the demand for derivatives. Glassnode explained that Bitcoin is building a strong support line between $93,000 and $95,000 by those who newly bought Bitcoin within 155 days.

2. BlackRock Becomes Most Bitcoin Holders Through ETF
BlackRock reached about 631,962 Bitcoin holdings on May. 19 through the net purchase of the Spot Exchange Traded Fund(ETF), making it the world's largest bitcoin holder. News Crypto, a media outlet specializing in cryptocurrency, reported on May. 19 that BlackRock's Bitcoin spot ETF 'IBIT' also recorded a net sale of $129.73 million on May. 16, and BlackRock's Bitcoin holdings achieved about 3% of the Bitcoin market's circulation.

3. U.K., Mandating Crypto Companies To Report Customer Data From 2026
The British government announced on May. 18 that it will have to report customer transaction data of all cryptocurrency companies in the UK from January 1, 2026, for the purpose of applying transparent cryptocurrency taxation. The UK Internal Revenue Service specified ▲customer name ▲home address ▲cryptocurrency transaction details ▲taxpayer identification number as data that cryptocurrency companies in the UK must report.

4. Tornado Cash developer "U.S. Prosecutors Cover up Innocent Evidence"
A lawyer for Roman Storm, the developer of Tornado Cash, a cryptocurrency mixer, submitted an official letter to a U.S. court on May. 17, claiming that U.S. prosecutors have concealed evidence to prove Tornado Cash's innocence. Roman Storm's lawyer explained that the U.S. financial crime control network FinCEN has been aware that cryptocurrency mixers are not part of the U.S. legal "money transfer business" since 2023, and has continued to file lawsuits against Tornado Cash.
